Unlock Your Dog’s Natural Nose Power and Start Your Tracking Journey
Learn a step-by-step reinforcement system so your dog can tell one scent from another—over and over—until it’s second nature.
Train in real forest conditions to read how odour drifts through scrub. Your dog builds independent confidence while mastering off-leash cones of scent.
Get hands-on with the physics of odour and learn to read every tail wag, head tilt, and nose lift for true dog-human teamwork.
Tip #1 – Choose Scent-Friendly Terrain
For your first tracking sessions, pick areas with dense undergrowth and moist ground. Thicker vegetation and humidity help scent linger. Giving your dog clear, focused stimulation without the confusion of wide open spaces.
Tip #2 – Communicate with Calm Line Cues
Your dog reads even the slightest tension on the line as a message. Keep your hands soft and movements deliberate gentle guidance fosters confidence, while harsh tugs can feel like corrections. Practise consistent line tension with your handling so you’re a reassuring partner, not an obstacle.

– Let the Forest Be Your Dog’s Classroom: Imagine your dog’s nose lighting up as they weave through ferns and fallen leaves. We choose dense bush and humid conditions so every sniff becomes a clear clue just like nature intended.
– You’re Never on Your Own: I’ll walk every step with you, pointing out the tiny body‐language cues ears up, tail wag, head tilt that tell you when your dog has found the trail. You’ll learn how to silently guide them toward the hidden person.
– Celebrate Every “Found” Moment: There’s nothing like the joy in your dog’s eyes when they track down their runner. It’s pure, shared excitement training that feels like the best game of hide and seek you’ve ever played.

Absolutely. We start with simple odour discrimination drills with some fast short tracks. Every step is reinforced, so even brand new trackers and their handlers feel confident.
We train rain or shine unless there’s thunder or high winds. Just bring waterproof layers. If the weather is too bad we will reschedule. But dont worry we’ll keep going (and laughing) together.
All you need is a fitted harness, sturdy shoes and high-value treats/ Favourite toy.
Only one dog works at a time, always within sight of the instructor. We build a solid start-cue and test recall before allowing any off-leash tracking.
Yes! Scentwork is perfect for nervous or reactive dogs because their focus is the odour, not distractions. Let us know on your pre-workshop form and we’ll tailor the session to suit your dog’s comfort level.
